The Philadelphia Eagles’ first team-issued depth chart is here!
And now to immediately trample over your excitement: it doesn’t mean much.
It’s not like this depth chart is carefully crated with insight from the front office and coaches. It literally says “Compiled by the Eagles Communications department” (AKA the PR staff) at the top of the graphic. And it’s only issued to the public because it’s mandated by the league.

Even if this was the Eagles’ real depth chart, there’s still plenty of time for things to change between now and roster cuts down to 53 players. There’s still one joint training camp practices and three preseason games that have yet to take place.
But let’s put the cynicism aside for a moment and play along with the published depth chart.

THOUGHTS
- Based on how the Eagles are splitting backup quarterback reps, slightly surprised to see there isn’t a “Kenny Pickett/Tanner McKee” split for QB2.
- Parris Campbell is listed as a starter but the Eagles have done a lot of rotating at WR3 with John Ross, Johnny Wilson, and Britain Covey all firmly in the mix.
- Also surprised to see there isn’t a “Tyler Steen/Mekhi Becton” split for right guard. Becton took first-team reps over Steen for the first time on Tuesday.
- The backup OL situation is more complicated than this depth chart captures. If Becton wins the starting RG job, it’ll be interesting to see if Johnson is the swing tackle or Steen factors in there. Scharping has been taking OT reps. Gates is working as the third-team center. Hennessy is listed as the second-team center but McMahon has taken more reps there and the former has been at second-team guard. But it’s actually been Toth who’s seen first-team center reps when Jurgens hasn’t been in.
- The Eagles list a five-man front in their defensive depth chart.
- The “Devin White/Nakobe Dean” and “Zack Baun/Jeremiah Trotter Jr.” splits seem silly since it’s been White and Dean first up as the starters in practice every day so far. Though perhaps a good sign for Trot Jr. he’s already being held in regard for a starter position.
- Isaiah Rodgers is listed before Kelee Ringo in their split, which makes sense he’s been first up as the starter more often.
- Quinyon Mitchell is a bigger factor at nickel than this depth chart would indicate.
- Hard to believe Rodgers is the starting KR if he’s starting at CB.
- Special teams backups (hat tip to PHLY’s Bo Wulf): Grant Calcattera at long snapper, Britain Covey at holder, Braden Mann at kicker. Mann kicked in high school and even had an attempt (43-yard miss in college). Jake Elliott has previously done some emergency punting for the Eagles.
- Speaking of emergencies, who is the Eagles’ emergency QB? Genuinely curious. Maybe they’d just try to run wildcat stuff with Saquon?
