Unseasonably cool weather covers all sections from the Rocky mountains to the Appalachians with temperature readings from 10 to nearly 20 degrees below normal over the immediate Mississippi valley. A large high pressure area extends from the Great Lakes to Texas with its crest over the Ozarks. A trough of low pressure extends from New England along the Atlantic coast to North Carolina and thence southwest to northwest Florida.

Pressure is also low in a trough-like area from southern California northward over the plateau region to a disturbance of considerable intensity over Montana. It is warmer over the north Pacific states and northern Rockies and temperatures are above normal along the Atlantic coast. Rain fell from the middle lake region southeast to North Carolina and thence south and southwest to Florida and the middle gulf coast. Amounts of an inch or more fell in parts of Michigan, Alabama and Georgia; the heaviest being 3.02 inches at Mobile. Elsewhere precipitation was unimportant.
