What is the TCU Community Scholars Program? ›

At Texas Christian University, we believe a diverse community is essential to a quality education. The Community Scholars Program was created to meet this goal. This elite program has grown to include 13 underserved public high schools where top students are recruited for full-ride scholarships to TCU.

The Chancellor's Scholarship is TCU's most competitive merit award and includes full tuition for eight semesters. Students who are selected to compete for a Chancellor's Scholarship will be invited to participate in an interview weekend, which usually takes place in February.

Renewal Requirements for Academic Scholarships

First-year level students must successfully complete 24 TCU hours with at 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA to renew for the upcoming year.

The Scholars Program philosophy is to promote mastery of subject matter demonstrated through writing, exposure to research, critical thinking, and analysis. Scholars courses are taught by faculty that are highly recommended by their respective departments and their students.

In conclusion, TCU is indeed an expensive institution, but it is not the most expensive in the US. Its total cost falls roughly in the middle among the pricier private colleges.

Does TCU give a lot of financial aid? ›

To make their dreams possible, nearly 80 percent of our students receive financial aid through educational loans, grants and work-study. The amount of need is determined by your FAFSA and CSS Profile.

Applicants are evaluated for the Chancellor's Scholarship based on their application to TCU and required supplemental materials. Students who qualify based on their academic credentials will undergo a rigorous qualitative evaluation and committee review using resume, writing samples and letters of recommendation.

Admission from a Community College – A minimum GPA of 3.25 is required for admission consideration. Admission from a University – A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required for admission consideration.

Full-time, degree-seeking undergraduate students who achieve a 4.0 GPA (all “A” grades) in any spring or fall semester are recognized as TCU Scholars by the academic deans. In that semester, they must have earned credit for at least 12 hours.

CCCC offers selected Scholars for the Dream Travel Award winners travel awards of $1,000 each and sponsors a reception for all award winners. Award winners will have the opportunity to work with career mentors who are CCCC members as part of the award.

First-year Honors students are expected to participate in the Honors community as residents of Milton Daniel Hall.
